Monday 19th March:
Learning Intention: We are learning to plan a persuasive text with a partner. Success Criteria: In my plan I can include: - A catchy title. - A clear point of view in your introduction. - A topic sentence for each paragraph. - Facts/Examples to support each of your topic sentences (Must be specifically related to your topic sentence!) - A conclusion that sums up your main points and finishes with a BANG! |

As a class we will read the following text:
Killer Shark Hunts Our Beaches What did you notice about this text? What kind of language do they use? Student Learning Task: Sharks Need Protecting Too In pairs you are now going to read the following text to see how sharks can be portrayed in a completely different manner. I want you to identify all the powerful and emotive language and any other persuasive strategies that you notice. |
Do you agree or disagree?
You are going to get a sticky note, and write your name on the note. As I call you up to the chart place your note in the column that expresses your opinion. Let’s look at the results.
Which side has more votes? Many people have different views on topics and are entitled to their own opinion. What are your reasons behind your choices? Now that we have shared, I want to explain to you that sometimes when you believe in something, you want others to believe in it also and you might try to get them to change their minds. Who has done this before? |
