Today we are going to compare and contrast two of our classroom items, and record our findings in a web. We are going to draw one of the items in the black circle on the left, and the other item in the black circle on the right. The blue circles are where we are going to record the similarities between the two items and in the red circles we are going to record the differences between the two items.

COMPARING AND CONTRASTING! Does anybody know what it means to compare two things? What does the word contrast mean? Let’s look at some of the vocab that we can use when comparing and contrasting Student Task: We are going to read through the text altogether and then when you go back to your table, you are going to each get a copy of the text, question sheet and compare & contrast worksheet below. You are going to work with the person you sit next to (while still completing your own copy) to discuss the text and complete the compare and contrast task. With a partner, you are going to watch the book again. Now, just like we did yesterday, you are going to work with a partner to make inferences about the type of person Jeremy is (his character traits), and how he is feeling throughout the book AND how we know this (Evidence + PK = Inference). |
